Doxycycline is an antibiotic used for treating bacterial infections in our body.

Doxycycline is a drug for treating various infections due to bacteria. It works only for bacterial infections such as typhus, syphilis, Rocky mountain spotted fever, anthrax, cholera, acne, gonorrhea and others, but it won't be of any help in case of viral infections, such as common cold or flu. The drug can be used in other cases, when advised by a doctor.

You are to take the drug strictly according to your doctor's prescriptions. Take in the pill undivided with a full glass of water, with or without food. Follow a regular schedule of drug use, as Doxycycline works better when it is taken at the same time each day. Besides, the regular time of the drug use will help you not to miss a dose. Don't stop to use the drug even if you feel better in few days, but go through the whole course, prescribed to you. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, or just skip if it's too close to the time of the next dose. Don't take more than 1 dose a time. Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic. It slows down the growth of bacteria so that our body can destroy them.
